Abstract

Engineering innovation and sustainable technology play a crucial role in addressing global challenges related to environmental sustainability, resource efficiency, and industrial development. This study aims to examine recent advances in engineering innovation and their contributions to sustainable technological development through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). Relevant articles published over the last five years were collected from reputable scientific databases and analyzed to identify emerging trends, technological applications, challenges, and future opportunities. The review indicates that the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), Industry 4.0, renewable energy technologies, sustainable materials, and smart infrastructure has significantly improved engineering performance while reducing environmental impacts. These innovations enhance energy efficiency, optimize resource utilization, minimize carbon emissions, and support sustainable industrial practices. However, challenges such as high implementation costs, technological complexity, infrastructure limitations, and workforce readiness continue to hinder widespread adoption. Overall, engineering innovation and sustainable technology are essential for achieving sustainable development by promoting environmentally responsible engineering solutions, improving industrial competitiveness, and supporting long-term economic and social resilience.
